None of us have not been affected by the progress of the coronavirus in the world. Cities and countries are closing down their borders and locally, gyms, yoga studios and other fitness facilities are temporarily closing their operations to do their part to reduce the spread. For many, everyday life has changed when they work from home or perhaps have been notified of their job and people are generally encouraged to stay at home. At the same time, it is more important than ever to keep moving and moving the body both for the physical and for the mental health.
Here are some tips on how to keep your workout going at home:
Walking and running
So far, we have no explicit curfew in Sweden, which means that you can go out and run or go brisk walks. Take the opportunity to listen to a good podcast, your favorite music or just listen to nature and the surroundings. Walking and running are an easily accessible way to get your heart rate up while you get some fresh air and hopefully some spring sun on your nose.
Do simple exercises at home
When it comes to training, it does not have to be long training sessions, but even the small things count. For those of you who like strength training, try to keep a daily routine to do every morning or when it suits you best. It can be exercises such as push-ups, sit-ups and squats and if you have exercise equipment at home such as a kettlebell, Pilates ball or resistance band, work with them. You will find lots of training clips and inspiration on exercises that you can easily do at home on Youtube and several gyms also have online training for their members. Do you miss your training partner? Train at home via Skype or Facetime and tease each other.
Yoga online
Many yoga studios that have had to close again instead offer their customers yoga online and there are also many yoga platforms that have a large selection of different styles of yoga sessions and meditation at all levels, led by skilled and experienced teachers. In Swedish available Yogobe and Stare or Yogagirl are examples of English-speaking platforms. There is also a large selection of yoga on Youtube. Yoga is easy to practice at home while strengthening and stretching the body and calming the mind.
Dance!
If you have difficulty getting to the training at home, there is a fun and swinging alternative: dancing. Put on your favorite playlist and just dance and let go. Dancing is a great way to move the body, get the pants up and release tension. Dance for yourself or invite the family or those you live with for a fun time together.
Keeping active and moving is a good and healthy pastime in this time of social isolation and it will make it easier to go back to your exercise routines when this time is over. If you have time left over at home, why not take the opportunity to add new clothes for the spring and summer season? Like many other small companies, we at Briosa.se need all the support we can get to be able to keep our business going during this special time, so that we can continue to provide our customers with comfortable, stylish training clothes for all sizes and shapes.
